About the Level 4 Massage Certificate
The history of massage dates back 3, 000 years ago to the ancient cultures of China and Egypt. The healing benefits of massage have been known to alleviate or help with a great range of illness – neurological affections, pain management, and psychological symptoms of anxiety and depression. For musculoskeletal issues, sports massage and other deep tissue have a real benefit of myofascial release, reducing pain and improving movement. This massage course has a packed syllabus, with comprehensive modules on body systems such as muscular, nervous, endocrine, digestive, respiratory and others, their functions, possible afflictions and how massage can assist with certain conditions.
The suggested time for this course is 100 hours, but you can finish the course work in more or less time. There are no time constrictions with learndirect. You simply need to enjoy the subject and have the motivation to complete it.
Who should study this course?
This course is aimed at all those interested in alternative therapy who have a passion for helping others. Having a massage certification would allow you to pursue a career as a massage therapist, but it could propel you towards a business venture, if you prefer working for yourself.
As with any of our courses, you do not need any prior qualifications or experience before enrolling on this massage course. All you need in an interest in massage therapy and the motivation to complete the course in a time that suits your needs.
What happens after the course?
At the end of this online course you will have all the necessary skills to become a massage therapist. However, if you choose to specialise in a particular massage technique, you can study further to delve in any other holistic practice that interest you or offer you a competitive edge on the job market.
There is a great need for massage specialists, be it in beauty clinics, holistic clinics or spa retreats. This qualification could even allow you to pursue a career on cruise ships. This massage qualification will also allow you the freedom to work for yourself. All the above settings are feasible for self-employment, but you could see clients at home, visit them at their home or get contracts with workplaces for staff massages. Assessment
Assessment Method
After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course.

Endorsement
At the end of this course successful learners will be given the option to receive a Certificate of Achievement from the Quality Licence Scheme and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).
Level 4 Massage Certificate of Achievement
The course has been endorsed under the Quality Licence Scheme. This means that learndirect has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the course have been benchmarked at Level 4 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.
The course itself has been designed learndirect to meet specific learners’ and/or employers’ requirements which cannot be satisfied through current regulated qualifications. The Quality Licence Scheme endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.
